Procedures on the performance day

* 12:00noon Rehearsal starts

 

Especially focus on  "Gatsby" and "Grand Pas de Quatre".

 

Take a bit time to "The Bright Stream", because it is Jake and Tom‘s first rehearsal.

 

Other solo and duet pieces will through depending on the situation.

 

* 4:00pm the amateur extras arriving and they will be "Gatsby" extras, rehearse with the dancers once, just to let everyone know how it goes.

 

Then they will rehearse themselves at the stage.

 

During this period, dancers can still rehearse at the backstage or in the changing room, or take a break.

 

* 6:00pm dancers rest and make up

 

* 6:30pm The audience begins to enter the theatre

 

* 7:30pm - 8:15pm The first half 

 

* 8:15pm - 8:35pm Interval of 20 minutes

 

* 8:35pm - 9:30pm  The second half  and end of the show.

Notice

1. All dancers are requested to abide by the contract, and must arriving at the theatre on time at 12:00noon and start rehearsal.

 

2. There are 7  changing rooms in this theatre, the first one downstairs is the backstage manager's room, you need go there first to register and get your costumes and props. And at the show ends you must go to that room to return the costumes and props.

 

3 The dancers will use the upstairs changing rooms. There are intercoms in each changing room, and you will be notifying as " who is the next preparing dancer", from the Control Desk. Of course, the order of all of the programme are also same our website.

 

4. There is a short introduction vedio before each programme. The lighting will be turn on before the intro music, and after dancers doing  bow or reverence the lighting will torn off, and ready to the next programme.

Scenario

 

Act I

Gatsby an enigmatic multi-millionaire,

he knew Daisy in Louisville in 1917 and is deeply in love with her.

Gatsby solo, 

He spends many nights staring at the green light

at the end of Daisy's dock, across the bay from his mansion.

 

 

Act II

Daisy is married to Tom Buchanan,

the couple has recently relocated from Chicago to a mansion,

Jordan Baker is a childhood friend of Daisy's. 

But Tom has a lover - Myrtle

Gatsby throws extravagant parties every Saturday night.

Gatsby understood, and then sneaks out too.

 

 

Act IV

11:27 - 12:45

Gatsby and Daisy Pas de Deux 

Gatsby and Daisy leave the others and have a tryst,

 

12:45 - 13:12

 

Gatsby brings some shirts and throws them up to high,

Daisy starts crying.

Act V

George Wilson with his wife Myrtle live in the valley of ashes,

a grey industrial dumping ground

 

14:22  - 16:00

Wilson and Myrtle pas de deux 

Wilson finds out Myrtle is having a lover, they are fight

 

16:00 - 16:20

Myrtle sees her lover's car, she runs towards it, waving her hands

 

 

16:20 - 16:56

That car has struck and killed Myrtle

Myrtle slowly falling down,

 

16:56 - 17:45

Wilson run to her and crying

then he picked up his wife's body and exit

 

Act VI

Daisy was driving the Gatsby's car has struck and killed Myrtle,

but that Gatsby intends to take the blame.

 

Tom tells Wilson, the driver of the car is Gatsby

Wilson finds Gatsby in the pool at his mansion

and shoots him dead. He then fatally shoots himself.

7.  Grand pas Classique

Yvette Chauviré and Vladimir Skouratov performed the Grand Pas Classique in the Theatre des Champs-Elysées in 1949 for the first time. Since then, the piece has garnered the reputation of one of the most difficult pas de deux in the contemporary classical repertoire. It is performed throughout the whole world.
