The Prince of Wales sit in a relaxed pose, dressed in casual clothes in front of a green fence. Painted almost entirely of blue and green, only a few elements in the painting are not in these two
colours - the Union jack, the prince's face, and his boots and shirt collar. Organ revolutionized the traditional approach to portraits of the monarchy. He has not chosen to depict his sitter
with the pomp and ceremony associated with his position, but as an intelligent, aware and sensitive man who has just finished a friendly game of polo.
In the 1970s Organ was commissioned to paint the portraits of four members of the British royal family, three of which now hang in London's Nationl Portrait Gallery. A consummate draughtsman and
insightful portrayer of character, Organ was also the first non - French citizen to be commissioned to paint a French President.
Bryan Organ (born 1935, Leicester) is an English painter.
He is mainly known for his work in portraiture, and has painted likenesses of many public figures. He is represented at the National Portrait Gallery, in London.
